Online sellers beware! Just a heads up on scammers online.

I’ve sold items on Craigslist before and have had absolutely no problem, so this was new to me.

I put 3 ads in 3 different sections of Craigslist/boulder yesterday and got 3 different people interested with email replies.

I thought that was a little fast, but yea! It worked so quickly and now I can sell these items, how great is that? That’s the whole point, right?!

But, wait. Hmmmm.

Interestingly, they both sound a bit alike! Both “out of town on business”. Both using the same means to pay. 

Here is what the replies look like in case it happens to you. I did not edit them.

1) ITEM: $60 for 26 ZipDisks:

Hello, Am satisfied with the price and condition of the item. I will like to make an outright purchase of the item. I am out of town on a business trip, so i will like to proceed in issuing out a certified check to you and upon the confirmation and clearance of payment my shipper will come for the pick-up at your location. So get back to me with your full name, address, zip code and phone number so that payment can be mail out asap. hope to read from you soon.

2) ITEM: Lenox 24 piece/wall hanger set of china Victorian House Spice set - $300

I really appreciate your response to my email. I want you to consider it sold, pls do withdraw the advert from CL to avoid disturbance,anyways I don’t have time to come over to take a look because of my Business but you don’t need to bother yourself with the shipment, I’ll take care of that by engaging the services of a mover, hence I’ll be sending a Certified check and it will be delivered to you via United Parcel Service (UPS), so I’ll need you to provide me with the following information to facilitate the mailing of the check.

Full name on the check.
Full Physical address to post the check
City, State and Zip Code
Home & Cell Phone to contact you.

Note that the payment will be shipped to your address via UPS NEXT DAY AIR SERVICE and I will like you to know that you will not be responsible for shipping i will have my mover to come over as soon as you have cashed the check*  N.B UPS does not deliver to a P.O box addresses. Thanks
